Play the Blues

"The camera is both the eye of the audience and film-maker, so it can go anywhere and do or become anything it wants."

My project task was "look through the eyes of someone or something else" and produce two 30-second films. Here, my idea was to imagine that if the instruments were alive, then this is probably how they would see themselves. I also wanted the viewer to not only get a sense of sight and sound, but also to be able to feel. Almost as if becoming the strings and the music being played. Additionally, I thought the viewer might find it interesting to see the guitar and the audience from the perspective of the musician (a sight which is rarely experienced by anyone other than the music themselves).

Nick Plays the Blues

This is Nick Giles. At first listen, his music made me feel like I was in a Western (and I love Westerns). He's far too good to be busking. He's been playing for 15 years, I think.

Trying to explain the 'phenomena' that is gravity, to a 6-year old. That was my task. This is the result. Hope you like it.

CHARCOAL DREAMS

Winter holiday happened and I haven't stopped to sleep. My head is constantly cooking up new ideas (my best ideas often come to me in the night). The nightly distractions and the many joys of the festive Christmas season! I've grown more and more fond of darkness. I think I'd be better off with a coffin for the day and a pint of blood for the night (I get the munchies). I feel my daily routines of working late, waking late is slowly but surely turning me into a blood-sucker. A true creature of the night. A nocturnal gypsy freak child. Raised by werewolves and performing in the circus for the daily penny.
